Plan differences

Monthly and yearly memberships include the same features. The difference is flexibility and savings.

What's the difference between monthly and yearly membership?

Both plans include exactly the same curriculum, tools, and records. The only differences are billing rhythm and price:

  • Monthly — Billed every month. Best if you're trying homeschooling for the first time or prefer smaller, predictable payments. Cancel any time.
  • Yearly — One payment for the full school year. Best value for families who know they'll stick with the program for the year. Typically saves the equivalent of two or more months compared to monthly billing.
Can I switch from monthly to yearly later?

Yes. You can switch to yearly billing from your account settings at any time. When you switch, the new yearly period starts on the date you upgrade, and any remaining days from your current monthly cycle are credited toward the yearly plan so you don't lose them.

Can I downgrade from yearly to monthly?

Yes, but only at your next renewal. Yearly memberships are paid upfront for the full school year, so we don't prorate yearly-to-monthly mid-cycle. You can set your account to switch to monthly at the end of your current yearly term.

Is there a family plan or per-child fee?

No. One membership covers all children in your household. You can create individual profiles, dashboards, and record sets for each child without paying extra. Whether you have one child or five, the membership price is the same.

Free trial

Try the platform before you commit. No tricks, no forgotten charges.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

When you sign up, you get 7 full days of preview access. You can explore sample lessons, browse the parent dashboard, test the attendance tracker, and download a sample quarterly report. We ask for payment info upfront so your membership can begin seamlessly if you choose to stay, but we email you two days before the trial ends so you can cancel with zero charge if it's not the right fit.

What happens if I forget to cancel before the trial ends?

We send a reminder email 48 hours before your trial converts to a paid membership. If you miss that and are charged, you can still request a full refund within 7 days of your first charge — no questions asked. After 7 days, normal refund policies apply (see below).

Can I do the trial more than once?

One trial per family account. If you cancel and come back later, you can reactivate your membership immediately, but a second free trial is not available.

Refunds

Fair, simple refund rules so you can join with confidence.

What is the refund policy?

We keep refunds simple and parent-friendly:

  • First charge refund guarantee: If you cancel within 7 days of your first monthly or yearly charge, you get a full refund — no questions, no hoops.
  • Yearly refunds after 7 days: If you paid yearly and cancel later, we refund the unused months on a prorated basis. For example, if you cancel after 4 months of a 12-month plan, you receive a refund for the remaining 8 months.
  • Monthly refunds after 7 days: Monthly plans are not prorated for partial months. If you cancel, you keep access through the end of your current billing period and the next charge is stopped.

Refunds are returned to the original payment method and usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

How do I request a refund?

Email hello@thelearningnesthomeschool.com with your account email and the word "Refund" in the subject line. We process most refund requests within two business days. You do not need to explain why — we trust families to know what's right for them.

Are digital workbook purchases from the shop refundable?

Digital PDF workbooks from the shop are delivered instantly and are not refundable once downloaded. If a file is corrupted or a page is missing, email us and we'll replace it free of charge. No physical products ship from the shop.

Cancellation

Leave any time. Your data stays yours.

How do I cancel my membership?

Go to Account → Billing → Cancel Membership in your parent dashboard. Follow the short confirmation steps. You'll receive an email confirmation within minutes. If you ever have trouble, email us and we cancel it for you manually — no retention scripts, no guilt trips.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

We do not delete your records when you cancel. Your children's attendance logs, grades, portfolios, and quarterly reports remain in your account for 12 months after cancellation so you can log back in and download anything you need.

After 12 months of inactivity, we archive the data (not delete it). If you rejoin later, everything is restored exactly where you left off.

Can I pause my membership instead of canceling?

Yes. Yearly members can pause for up to 60 days once per year. During a pause, your billing stops and your dashboard is frozen in place. When you resume, you pick up on the exact lesson and date you left. Monthly members can cancel and rejoin any time; there is no separate pause feature for monthly billing.

Can I rejoin after canceling?

Absolutely. Sign back in with the same email and reactivate from your account page. If you had founding-member pricing, you keep it as long as you rejoin within 12 months of canceling. After 12 months away, you rejoin at the then-current public rate.

Payments & billing

How we charge, when we charge, and what we accept.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). We do not accept PayPal, checks, or purchase orders at this time.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. We process payments through Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Your card details never touch our servers. We do not store full card numbers.

Will the price ever increase for existing members?

Founding members who join during early access are locked into founding pricing for as long as their membership stays active. If you cancel and rejoin within 12 months, you keep your founding rate. Standard members (post-launch) may see occasional price adjustments, but any increase applies only at renewal — we never retroactively raise a current billing cycle.

Do you offer a discount for military, first responder, or homeschooling families in need?

Yes. We have a limited number of need-based and service-based scholarships each year. Email hello@thelearningnesthomeschool.com with "Scholarship" in the subject line. We review requests monthly and reply within two weeks.

What's included

Every membership includes the full platform. No tiers, no upsells inside the curriculum.

Do I have to buy anything extra to use the curriculum?

No. Every lesson, worksheet, assessment, progress note, report card, attendance log, gradebook, and portfolio template is included in your membership. The only optional purchases are full digital PDF workbook bundles from the digital shop — instant download, no membership required, no physical product shipped.

Are new grade levels and features included automatically?

Yes. When we add new enrichment subjects, units, or dashboard features, they roll out to every active member at no extra cost. We don't gate new content behind "premium" tiers.

Can I print as much as I want?

Yes. There is no print limit. Print every worksheet, report card, and portfolio page for every child as many times as you need. PDFs are yours to keep even if you later cancel.

Account & family setup

One account, every child, every record.

How many children can I add to one membership?

There is no limit. Add every child in your household, from your first grader to your sixth grader (and eventually seventh and eighth). Each child gets their own color-coded dashboard, schedule, gradebook, and quarterly report PDF.

Can both parents access the account?

Yes. You can invite a co-parent or guardian from your account settings. They get their own login but share the same family data, billing, and records. Both parents can log attendance, grade open-ended work, and download reports.

Can I change my child's grade level mid-year?

Yes. If you discover your child needs to move up or down in a subject, you can adjust their grade level in the parent dashboard. Their existing records stay intact, and the new lessons begin on the next school day. This is free and unlimited.

Records & downloads

Your homeschool paperwork belongs to you — always.

Can I download my records if I cancel?

Yes. We encourage every member to download their quarterly report PDFs, attendance summaries, and portfolio exports before canceling. These files are standard PDFs that open on any computer and are accepted by most school districts.

What file formats do you use for reports?

All reports and work samples export as PDF files. Attendance logs also export as CSV if you prefer spreadsheet format. We use clean, district-friendly layouts with no watermarks or proprietary formats.

Trust & transparency

How we treat your family, your data, and your trust.

Will you sell my email or my child's data?

Never. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your child's learning data to third parties. We use your email only for account notifications, lesson reminders (if you opt in), and occasional platform updates. Read our full Privacy Policy.

Is The Learning Nest a real company?

Yes. We are a registered business with a real support team, real email address, and real humans answering messages. We're homeschool parents building tools for homeschool parents — not a faceless app factory.
