Frequently asked questions

Most parents arrive with the same handful of questions. Here are the honest answers.

Is The Learning Nest a real school or a public school?

No. The Learning Nest is an online homeschool curriculum and recordkeeping platform. We are not a public school, charter school, or accredited private school. Your family remains the school of record; we give you the lessons, grading, and paperwork to teach at home with confidence.

What grades do you cover?

We cover Grades 1 through 8 today โ€” full elementary plus middle school. We don't promise grade levels we haven't built yet.

Is the curriculum secular or religious?

Secular. Our reading, math, science, social studies, art, music, PE, life skills, and SEL content does not include religious instruction. Families of every faith are welcome and can add their own religious studies on top of the platform.

Do you charge for the homeschool guides and free resources?

No. The guides at /guides, the curated free resource library at /resources, and the state requirements summary at /state-requirements are all free and stay free. The paid membership covers daily lessons, grading, attendance, and the auto-generated quarterly report PDF.

Will printed workbooks match the digital platform?

Yes. Our scope and sequence is the source of truth. Every printed workbook follows the same day-by-day order as the digital lessons, so a child using the workbook is on the same page as the dashboard โ€” literally.

Can I use The Learning Nest if I work full-time?

Yes. Many of our families have one or two working parents. Grades 4โ€“6 can complete most of a day independently using the dashboard checklist; Grades 1โ€“3 will need an adult nearby for parts of the day. Our daily schedule guide has sample schedules for working parents.

How do I know my child is on track?

Each quarter, the platform produces a report PDF per child that includes attendance, grades, narrative progress notes, and representative work samples. Compare that against your state's requirements โ€” for most states, that document is everything you need.

Do you provide therapy or diagnose learning differences?

No. We provide educational content and enrichment activities, including optional communication-skills practice. We do not diagnose, treat, or provide therapy for any condition. If you have concerns, please consult a qualified licensed professional. See our educational disclaimer for full details.
